Lightness of Being

Sometimes you walk down a street, lost in your own space, and something in your environment calls out and breaks through your reverie. This is what happened for me one day in San Francisco. It was a clear afternoon with the bluest of skies that put me into a happy place. Suddenly, this corner building filled my view. I became mesmerized by the notes of yellow and peach upon the white surface and the symphony of soft blues and lavender tones within the shadows.

While I applauded the architect for all the perfect touches, I also celebrated Nature. For it is the symbiosis of the human creation with the Sun's light that created this visual beauty: each needed the other for this pairing to exist. To point the viewer toward Nature's importance, I added the silhouettes of trees and birds within the windows and the bird shadows on the façade.
