The Sun Does Shine

Near the Golden Gate Bridge, this building in the Presidio glows with dazzling light when bathed in the afternoon sun. The title pays homage to Anthony Ray Hinton, who was interviewed in a podcast I listened to while finishing this painting. Mr. Hinton was on Alabama's death row for nearly 30 years for crimes he didn't commit - primarily because he was poor and black. Upon release his words were, "The sun does shine." The piece is a quad, comprised of two 20 x 30 canvases and two 20 x 10 canvases. Acrylic. (For zoom: click on gray box with four arrows.)
